Running your own business is incredibly rewarding, but it also has its challenges. Sharing these ups and downs with a partner can make the journey even more fulfilling. In today's fast-paced and ever-evolving business environment, the significance of strong, harmonious partnerships cannot be overstated. Business partners, much like the cogs in a well-oiled machine, must function seamlessly together to drive their ventures forward.
Maintaining a sustainable self-care routine and learning how to properly manage your personal resources while navigating a heavy workload and building your business is not only important for your long-term health and success, it’s a must.
Starting, running, and growing a business with a partner can feel like a marriage of sorts. There’s excitement, optimism, and a perceived shared vision for the future. However, much like marriages and other intimate relationships, business partnerships can also face numerous challenges that, if not addressed, can lead to frustration, fractured relationships, lost money, and other less than ideal results.

Take the First Step Towards building a high functioning partnership.

    About Matt D’Amour

    Dear Founder,

I’m here because I know exactly what’s at stake: your business, your mental health, your dream, and maybe most of all, your relationships.

Seventy percent of business partnerships fail. I don't quote that to scare you; I say it because I've lived it, not once, but multiple times, and I carry the business battle wounds to prove it.

I still remember watching my parents run our hotel, not just as a business, but as a living case study in people, pressure, and performance. I saw what it takes to build something from the ground up, and what it costs when it starts to fall apart. That was my first education, not in theory, but in real world trial and error.

By the time I was 18, I had started my first small business. In 2009, I co-founded Yumbutter, a nut and seed butter company, with just $100 and a food processor. We transformed it into a nationally recognized food brand, generated millions in sales, and provided meals to children in need, all from scratch.

After that, I co-founded Subtle Distinctions, a coaching and human development platform that worked with brands such as Nike, PepsiCo, Hilton, and the Dallas Mavericks. For six years, I had the opportunity to help top leaders evolve into better individuals and build stronger teams.

But here’s the uncomfortable truth: both companies had one massive thing in common: the partnerships eventually broke down. It wasn't because of a lack of vision, skill, or heart.
It was because we were building backward, focusing on scale before synergy, product before partnership.

    That realization changed everything.

When my last partnership ended in a final phone call, something clicked in me. I saw the pattern, not just in my own story but in others'; the dysfunction, the burnout, the slow erosion of something that started with hope, connection, and lots of love and admiration. I knew I couldn’t keep building that way, and I couldn't let others build that way either.

So I committed to a new path: helping visionary founders like you create thriving, high-functioning partnerships, from the inside out.

Business isn't just about having the best widget, making the most money, or playing the game at the highest level; it’s about achieving all those things while having a supportive, highly functional, and trusted partnership. That's why I focus on the partnership relationship.

Today, I help conscious, ambitious leaders avoid the quiet chaos that destroys so many partnerships. I don't offer vague advice; I utilize fundamental tools forged from real experience, the kind that turns tension into traction, conflict into clarity, and relationships into genuine leverage.

You can have it all: your health, a financially thriving and impactful business, and a partner who amplifies your growth and whom you genuinely like and enjoy.

Let's build this the right way.

    From my heart to yours,

    Matt D’Amour
